LOT POLISH AIRLINES HISTORY
LOT Polish Airlines was founded in 1929, initially offering domestic
flights in Poland. LOT's symbol of the stylised crane, which is
still used to this day, was chosen that same year. LOT joined the
International Air Transport Association in 1930, and began international
flights Warsaw-Lvov-Chernovsty-Bucharest in 1931.
In succeeding years LOT's network grew rapidly, with flights extending
across Europe and then on intercontinental routes across the Atlantic
and to Asia.
Today LOT carries over 4 million passengers per year on international,
domestic and charter routes, and over 22,000 tonnes of cargo. Its
network covers 49 destinations in 31 countries worldwide, plus additional
code-share destinations in the USA, and 12 domestic destinations
in Poland.
LOT has been a member of the Star Alliance since 2003.
