ASIANA AIRLINES HISTORY
Asiana Airlines was established in 1988 and began its first Korean
domestic flights in December of that year. International flights
began a year later, initially to Japan, then to Hong Kong. USA routes
were started in 1991, and flights to Europe and Australia were added
in 1995.
Today Asiana flies from its home base at Seoul's Incheon airport
to 37 cities in 12 countries, with a route structure spanning the
globe, as well as to 14 points on its domestic Korean network.
Its mission is "To become recognized worldwide by our customers,
shareholders, and employees as the best airline in the world."
Its objectives include positioning Asiana as the leading carrier
of China, Japan, and Northeast Asia routes, and becoming a truly
global airline with connections spanning over the five seas and
six continents.
In March 2003, Asiana joined the Star Alliance, and Asiana flights
can now
be used on the Star Alliance Round-the-World and Circle Pacific
fares.
