IBERIA HISTORY
In 2002 Iberia is celebrating 75 years as a scheduled European airline.
During these 75 years nearly 500 million people have flown with
Iberia, placing it among the five largest European carriers, and
making Iberia the unrivalled leader on routes connecting Spain with
the rest of Europe, and Europe with Latin America. Iberia has been
a pioneer in launching innovative products including setting up
Europe's first international airline Frequent-Flyer program, Iberia
Plus.
Today Iberia operates in about 100 airports in 39 countries, employing
more than 28,000 people, and earning annual revenues of more than
4.7 billion euros. In addition, Iberia is a member of the prestigious
oneworld airline alliance. Iberia's alliance with American Airlines
and with British Airways, along with its membership in oneworld,
places the company in one of the large airline groups that are now
taking shape with a view to future competition in today's global
market.
